Cracker (Soda) Biscuit Production Line

A cracker (soda) biscuit production line is specialized biscuit manufacturing equipment for producing fermented, laminated hard biscuits — soda crackers, cream crackers, saltine crackers, and vegetable or multigrain crackers.

Product Overview

It solves the core challenge of cracker making: building distinct, flaky layers at industrial speed without losing fermentation flavor or shape consistency. Wanttone’s cracker production line integrates dough mixing and fermentation handling, laminating, multi-stage sheeting, rotary cutting, tunnel oven baking, oil spraying, cooling, and packaging in one synchronized, automated flow.

The heart of the line is the reciprocating laminator with flour dusting, which overlaps dough sheets to create the stratified structure that gives soda crackers their signature crisp, layered bite. Downstream gauge rolls with displacement-sensor gap detection hold sheet thickness to tight tolerances, so every cracker bakes evenly and docks flat. Depending on the model and oven length, the line produces from around 200 kg/h up to 5,000 kg/h.

Capabilities & Applications

Key Features

  • Authentic Laminated Texture

The reciprocating laminator builds controlled dough layers, delivering the flaky structure and crisp mouthfeel consumers expect from premium soda crackers.

  • Precise Thickness Control

Gauge rolls with digital gap display and touchscreen speed/thickness adjustment keep sheet thickness uniform, preventing warped or unevenly baked crackers.

  • High, Stable Output

Continuous automated flow from dough feeding to packing delivers hundreds to thousands of kilograms per hour with consistent quality.

  • Lower Labor Cost

Automatic dough conveying, scrap recycling, and in-line stacking cut intermediate handling; a full line runs with a small crew.

  • Flexible Recipe Capability

The same line produces soda crackers, saltines, vegetable crackers, multigrain and coarse-grain biscuits, and cracker bases for cream sandwiching — just change molds and settings.

  • Energy-Efficient Baking

Multi-zone tunnel ovens (gas, electric, or diesel) with insulated chambers and hot-air circulation reduce energy consumption per kilogram of finished cracker.

  • Hygienic and Easy to Maintain

SUS304 contact parts, scraper systems that clean without damaging rollers, and safety interlocks simplify sanitation and daily maintenance.

Applications

  • Soda crackers, saltine and cream crackers, fermented hard biscuits, vegetable and multigrain crackers, coarse-grain and meal-replacement biscuits, and cracker sheets for downstream sandwiching. Ideal for mid-sized biscuit factories upgrading from semi-automatic cracker equipment, industrial snack producers running 24/7 operations, and contract manufacturers serving retail private-label cracker programs.

From Preparation to Packing

  1. Vertical/Horizontal Dough Mixer

Prepare and condition the recipe to the specified consistency for stable downstream processing.

  2. Dough Feeding & Laminator

Move and regulate the material continuously so the next operation receives a stable, controlled supply.

  3. Two-Roll Sheeters/Gauge Rolls & Rotary Cutter

Build and control the product layers or thickness before forming and thermal processing.

  4. Separator & Scrap Recycling & Tunnel Oven

Control time and temperature to achieve the target structure, color, and moisture.

  5. Oil Sprayer & Cooling Conveyor

Move and regulate the material continuously so the next operation receives a stable, controlled supply.

  6. Optional Sandwiching Machine & Packing

Pack finished products in the agreed format with a consistent count and presentation.

The Wanttone Difference

Crackers are in Wanttone’s blood. Our own food division produces cracker products on our own equipment, so every lamination ratio, fermentation schedule, and baking curve we recommend has been proven in commercial production. Our engineering heritage goes back to 1981, when our predecessor factory ended China’s reliance on imported biscuit equipment, and today our Foodstuff Machinery Research Institute continues to develop dough-handling technology specifically for laminated products. We manufacture to ISO 9001 standards and back every line with complete turnkey service — factory layout design, cracker recipe and process support, installation, commissioning, worker training, and lifetime maintenance. When you buy a Wanttone cracker line, you gain a partner who understands cracker making from both sides of the machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a laminator essential for soda cracker production?

Soda crackers get their crisp, flaky structure from layered dough. The reciprocating laminator overlaps sheeted dough with a light flour dusting between layers; without this step, the baked cracker would be dense and hard rather than layered and crisp.

Does the line handle dough fermentation?

Yes. We configure the mixing and dough-resting arrangement around your fermentation process — including fermentation room layout and timing — so the cracker develops its proper flavor before sheeting and laminating.

What capacity should I choose for a cracker line?

Entry lines around 200–500 kg/h suit regional brands; 800–1,500 kg/h is typical for national brands; and high-capacity lines of 2,000 kg/h and above serve industrial exporters. Capacity is driven mainly by working width and oven length, which we size to your target output.

Can the line also make sandwich crackers?

Yes. Adding a biscuit sandwiching machine after cooling turns the line into a cream cracker sandwich system. We can also design the layout so the sandwiching station is added later without rebuilding the line.

How are installation, training, and after-sales service handled?

Wanttone dispatches experienced engineers for on-site installation, commissioning, and operator/maintenance training. We provide lifetime technical support, fast spare-parts supply, and scheduled overseas service visits to keep your line at rated output.
