Salt & Sugar Sprinkle Machine

A salt and sugar sprinkle machine evenly distributes granulated salt, sugar, sesame seeds, or spices onto the surface of formed biscuit dough before it enters the tunnel oven, building flavor, texture, and visual appeal into the finished product.

Product Overview

The Wanttone salt & sugar sprinkler offers two application methods — a rotating centrifugal sprinkling disc and compressed-air injection — together with an integrated recovery system that collects and reuses excess granules, giving biscuit producers precise, uniform seasoning coverage with minimal material waste.

Capabilities & Applications

Key Features

  • Two Sprinkling Methods in One Platform

Choose centrifugal rotating disc application for broad, even coverage, or airflow injection for targeted dosing of finer or denser granules.

  • Uniform, Precise Distribution

Adjustable disc speed, pore size, and nozzle pressure let you dial in exact coating density, so every biscuit carries the same amount of salt or sugar.

  • Material Recovery System

Excess salt and sugar falling between biscuits are collected and recycled back to the hopper, measurably reducing raw-material waste and keeping the line clean.

  • Multi-Material Capability

Beyond salt and sugar, the machine handles sesame seeds, desiccated spices, and similar granular toppings, widening your product-development options.

  • Dough-Sheet Synchronized Operation

Sprinkling output is synchronized with the forming line belt speed, maintaining consistent coverage from the first biscuit of the shift to the last.

  • Hygienic Stainless-Steel Construction

Food-grade contact parts and an open, easy-access design support fast cleaning between sweet and savory production runs.

Applications

  • The sprinkle machine is positioned after dough forming (rotary cutter or rotary moulder) and before the tunnel oven. It is essential for soda crackers and salted biscuits, and widely used on sweet, hard, and soft biscuit lines as well as butter cookie production to create signature toppings and surface-seasoned specialty products. It integrates seamlessly with Wanttone forming machines and ovens, or can be added to an existing line.

A Defined Role in the Line

  1. Upstream Requirements

Confirm the incoming material or product condition, target throughput, infeed height and available utilities.

  2. Core Machine Function

Choose centrifugal rotating disc application for broad, even coverage, or airflow injection for targeted dosing of finer or denser granules.

  3. Downstream Integration

Match discharge height, line speed, control signals, guarding and cleaning access with the next operation.

The Wanttone Difference

Salt and sugar sprinkling looks simple, but consistent coverage across a 1000 mm dough sheet at full speed is a precision-engineering problem Wanttone has solved for over 40 years. As one of China’s earliest automated biscuit equipment developers, with ISO 9001-controlled manufacturing and an in-house Foodstuff Machinery Research Institute, we tune disc geometry and airflow to your specific granule size and target coating weight — validated in our own biscuit factory, where our branded crackers and cookies run on the same equipment. Buying from Wanttone means more than a machine: you get whole-line integration engineering, on-site commissioning, operator training, and lifetime after-sales service from a manufacturer that also understands biscuit making as a producer.

Frequently Asked Questions

At which stage of the line are the salt and sugar applied?

Before baking. The sprinkler is installed between the forming section and the tunnel oven, so the topping bonds to the dough surface during baking.

Can the machine handle toppings other than salt and sugar?

Yes. Sesame seeds, spice granules, and similar free-flowing toppings can be applied. Tell us your topping material and particle size, and we will configure the appropriate disc or nozzle system.

How do I control how much salt or sugar is applied?

Coverage density is controlled by disc speed, hopper pore size, and (for air injection) nozzle pressure. Settings can be saved per product for repeatable changeovers.

What happens to the granules that miss the biscuits?

A recovery system beneath the belt collects excess material and returns it to the hopper for reuse, reducing waste and keeping the production area clean.

Can the sprinkler be retrofitted onto my existing biscuit line?

Yes. We customize working width, mounting height, and belt-speed synchronization to integrate with existing forming machines and ovens.
